People ask me “How & Why Did You Start Your Home-Based Business Virtual Assistant Services?” What qualifications or education did you have to offer “virtual assistance” to your clients?

I answer years of experience, dedication to helping clients, self-motivation, vision & action… These all come in to play in any business that you undertake.

Years ago they didn’t have a great name like Virtual Assistant… Virtual Secretary didn’t quite describe what I did, because the virtual assistant services I offer go beyond being a virtual secretary.

Entrepreneurial Spirit is the beginning…

Bringing me back to thinking how it all started… Being an entrepreneur and working from home has always been in my blood. I remember in 1975 doing Tupperware home parties and working as a home typist on an IBM Selectric transcribing deposition transcripts… which led me into being a Legal Secretary on & off for 20+ years, working for accountants for 5 years, bookkeeping from home, installing and training people on accounting software and learning my first computer at Lockheed where I did data entry for the L-1011 Electrical Wiring System.

I always liked the flexibility of working at home and in 1999 I started on eBay selling products, learned how to design my own website and for the next 6 years I owned retail businesses on the internet and helped design friends’ websites and taught them about PPC on Google & Yahoo.

Enjoying the creativity of designing and always having the technical gene, loving to learn new programs, my client base started to grow and I sold my online retail business in 2006 and continued with my Virtual Assistant Service Business.

The qualifications and education have been lifelong and they are still going on as I’ve seen the internet change and what used to work does not work anymore. You have to do more with Blogging, Social Networking, Social Bookmarking, YouTube Videos, Article Submission, Forums…
